TARGET AUDIENCE IDENTIFICATION
Audience profiling allows media businesses to narrow down their audience/customers to find their target audience. It is always best for a media business to find their target audience before they market a new product. In my case it would be a short social realist film, so they can get the best results and profit. A target audience is an audience that is most relevant and connected to the media product that acompany is trying to sell. Many media buisnesses would look at factors that can help determine the final result. These factors would be age, gender, religion, race, sexuality, education and occupation.
In my film my demographic age range would be from 15-25. As I feel a social realist film mostly targets an audience from this age range. It is also argued that any younger in terms of age range it wouldn't be deemed 'appropriate' and certain issues may not be relatable for a younger audience. An older age demographic wouldn't be relatable either, or a social realist film may not appeal to an older audience. As many social realist films target a teenage audience as most issues happen within that demographic. My production is aimed at both genders, as issues presented in my production both females and males have insued and experienced. Social realist films typically display a working class environment and surroundings. Such as a council estate or an urban area. Which is why I've aimed my film at all occupations and educations. As it displays a vital problem of stalkers and unsafe behaviour in a daily life. Some scenes are filmed in a urban area, presenting the popular trait of social realist films; such as Kidulthood.
